Sel et Gras at TRACE: Paris Comes to Austin
April 27, 2013 @ 9:00 pm - 11:55 pm
$60 – $75TRACE at the W Hotel brings the sights, sounds and tastes of France to downtown Austin with this special culinary event, Sel et Gras. Following the Austin FOOD & WINE Festival’s popular Rock Your Taco competition, head over to TRACE to continue your evening with an array of flavorful sweet and savory bites as well as classic French wines and cocktails. TRACE’s main dining room and lush outdoor patio will be transformed, creating a Paris Bistro ambiance with a DJ spinning classic French pop music a la Serge Gainsbourg and Brigitte Bardot. Classic French wines will flow and inspired cocktails from W Austin’s head libationist, Joyce Garrison, will be poured.
The event is tailor made to showcase the culinary talent of TRACE’s new Chef de Cuisine, Lawrence Kocurek. In addition to the variety of the charcuterie for which he’s become known, you’ll also be able to indulge in Escargot and Charcuterie variations, Crispy Frogs Legs with Garlic & Parsley, Beef Tartare, Quail Eggs and Caviar, Foie Gras Mousse Doughnuts, Gougeres, and Salmon Tartare Cornettes.
Executive Pastry Chef Janina O’Leary, a recent James Beard semi-finalist, will be serving classic French desserts like Macaroons, Tartes Assorties, Éclairs, Gateaux and more. Back by popular demand, O’Leary will collaborate with her mentor, Chef Pichet Ong, on some of the evening’s sweet treats.
